The 2711-B5A8 operator terminal from Allen-Bradley is a PanelView 550 that is part of the Bulletin 2711 PanelView Standard Operator Terminal product family. This operator terminal features a 5.5-inch display screen, having a resolution of 256 x 128 and display area of 120 x 60 mm (4.75 x 2.38 in.). This operator terminal has dual communication ports with one supporting Data Highway Plus (DH+) and RS323 used for printing alarm and system messages. With Data Highway + (DH+), a daisy-chain of up to 32 devices may be connected in a single node, covering a length of 4000 m per segment. It is a Token-Passing protocol to allow nodes connected to the network to perform data exchange over the 1770-CD or Belden 9463 communication cable.

The 2711-B5A8 is provided with a keypad assembly that is fitted with Ten (10) Function keys from F1 to F10 which are fully programmable to fit the required operator action. Aside from this, the keys may be assigned with global or local functions, allowing the keys to have a variable function per HMI window or a fixed assignment that is common, regardless of the currently displayed window. Equally important, this same terminal has a touch sensitive interface, allowing the device to be operated by directly pressing onto the screen. Both the keypad and touchscreen may be operated up to 1 million actuations.
