The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 2711P-T6M5D terminal is a PanelView grayscale terminal. Because it is a grayscale terminal, the 2711P-T6M5D terminal supports a fixed palette of 4 colors which are all shades of gray. The terminal is capable of displaying, controlling, and monitoring an application. For communication purposes, the 2711P-T6M5D terminal features an RS-232 port and a high-speed USB port. Note that the RS-232 port supports multiple vendor PLC protocols. As such, the 2711P-T6M5D terminal can be used for both basic and high-end applications. The terminal displays information on a 5.7-inch display. The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T6M5D terminal has an internal memory unit with a 64 MB capacity and it is powered by a DC power source with a nominal voltage rating of 24 Volts DC (with a minimum rating of 18 Volts DC, and a maximum rating of 30 Volts DC). However, for earth/ground functional connections, a separate power source has to be provided.

The terminal is intended for indoor use only and it supports enclosures with an international protection rating of IP 66 or NEMA/UL Type 12, 13, 4x. For certifications, the 2711P-T6M5D terminal is certified by the c-UL-us standard where it is listed as industrial control equipment that is for use in hazardous locations. Additionally, it is CE certified for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) under the European Union 2004/108/EC EMC directive, and it is compliant with industrial immunity and industrial emissions standards. Also, the terminal is compliant with the EU low voltage directive for programmable controllers and with the Australian radiocommunication act. The 2711P-T6M5D terminal is ideal for use in an industrial environment with an ambient relative humidity ranging from 5 to 95% without condensation.
