The SD Series HPc800 is a high-performance,high-capacity process controller that is used tosupport the plant’s total control requirements,from discrete and continuous, to advancedcontrol applications. The HPC800’s controllerenvironment executes demanding processcontrol applications that are both data andprogram intensive.

Simultaneously, the HPc800 connects to DlN-railmounted SD Series and $800 l/O modules, as wellas traditional Rack l/O modules. intelligent l/Odevices such as smart transmitters, actuators,intelligent electronic devices (lEDs) are easilyintegrated through industry-standard fieldbusesand protocols (PROFIBUS DP/PA, HART, IEC 61850Modbus TCP, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP 3.0, etc).Each device’s resident information can be used incontrol strategies and higher-level applications inorder to produce tighter and more reliable processcontrol solutions.
The HPC800 controller uses ABB’s extensive setof field-proven standard function code algorithmsand S+ Engineering’s graphical design tools todevelop its control strategies. By using the samefunction code algorithms as previous generationsof Symphony and INFl 90 controllers, the HPc800supports the easy and risk-free porting ofinstalled control execution environments.
