The IC697RCM711 is a Redundancy Communications Module (RCM). It is part of the Series 90-70 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series, featuring a High-Speed Parallel Bus Expansion Interface, specially designed for use with Hot Standby and Enhanced Hot Standby CPU redundancy configuration. This module provides a synchronization path and I/O update path between the partner CPUs, contributing to rapid update and bumpless transfer of CPU control during the event of a switchover. The IC697RCM711 is part of a redundancy system that is typically comprised of Hot Standby Series 90-70 Controllers such as IC697CPU780, IC697CGR772, and IC697CGR735; Bus Transmitter Module with catalog number IC697BEM713 along with a Bus Terminator Plug with catalog number IC697ACC702. Up to 50 feet or 15 meters maximum cable distance is permitted between each CPU however, several cables are available for use with the RC< module including IC600WD005 / 010 / 025 / 050 cables with lengths of 5 feet or 1.5 meters; 10 feet of 3 meters; 25 feet of 7.5 meters and to 50 feet or 15 meters. Optionally, I/O cables with integrated terminating resistors can be used such as IC697CBL811 with a length of 10 feet or 3 meters or IC697CBL826 with a length of 25 feet or 7.5 meters. This module has built-in Status LED indicators such as OK, Local Ready, Local Active, remote Ready, and Remote Active LED indicators. It has Two (2) ports installed with 1 being a dummy port and a communication port that supports the connection of Expansion port IN. this module also has a manual pushbutton switch that can be triggered to initiate manual switchover from active to backup module.
