Essential details：MTL5549 ISOLATING DRIVER MTL
The MTLx549 accepts 4/20mA floating signals from safe-area controllers to drive 2 current/pressure converters (or any other load up to 800Ω) in a hazardous area. For HART valve positioners, the module also permits bi-directional transmission of digital communication signals. Process controllers with a readback facility can detect open or short circuits in the field wiring: if these occur, the current taken into the terminals drops to a preset level. The MTL4549C and MTLx549Y are very similar to the MTLx549 except that they provide open circuit detection only (i.e. no short-circuit detection).

The MTL Safety Gate MTL5546Y module receives a 4/20mA floating signal from the safe zone controller to drive the current/pressure converter in the danger zone. For intelligent valve positioners, the MTL Safety Gate MTL5546Y module also allows two-way transmission of digital communication signals.
The MTL5500 series is versatile at the application level and easy to operate. It is manufactured with the latest technology and has been well verified. These contrasting properties are the result of advances in MTL’s expertise in the design and manufacture of intrinsically safe photoisolators and the application of MTL in innovative technologies to achieve the required separation and isolation circuits. The MTL5500(DIN-rail mounting) and MTL4500(baseboard mounting) are proposed to share a common design and differ only in mechanical mounting and connection methods.
