Overview
Essential details:PCI-6704 NI Analog Output Device
The PCI-6704 (Part Numbers: 777306-01, 183689-01) is a 16 Bit, 32 Channel, Static Analog Output Device that can be used in several arrangements for software-limited current and voltage applications. This board comes with 16 current outputs and 16 outputs for voltage as well. Each one of the outputs can be employed by the user individually at the same time. The PCI 6704 also features eight digital I/O lines with the possibility of getting each output separately from 0 to 20 mA or ±10 V. Part number 183689-01 is the hardware only kit of the PCI-6704.
This precise DC setpoint device for PCI can be used in numerous types of digital I/O and DC setpoint applications. With this tool, the user’s PC can be used as a digital I/O system controller for industrial process monitoring, production testing, and laboratory testing. The PCI-6704 can generate analog functions, experimental stimuli, and can link to a broad range of signal types including LEDs, Electromechanical relays, solid-state relays (optically isolated), and more. It is equipped with a 68-pin male I/O connector.

- The NI PCI-6704 can work in any standard CompactPCI chassis compliant with the PICMG CompactPCI 2.0 core specifications. This device can be operated in a bipolar voltage range of –10.1 to +10.1 V, whereas the maximum load current for 16-bit linearity is ±10.1 mA. With this device, the user does not need an externally connected floating power supply for the completion of the controlled current loop, since it is possible to link a floating or grounding load at the channel for current output. The limit in which the current circuit can be controlled is from 0.1 to 20.2 mA. All current outputs remain within ± 1.1 mA (max) of their values defined by the user within 0.5 s of power-on.
The PCI 6704 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.
The NI device measures 3.9 x 6.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C, and a non-condensing humidity range of 5 to 90% RH.
