Products Description
The CPU board contains the microprocessor and RAM memory, a real-time clock, LED indicators, INIT push button, and a CompactFlash interface.
The base plate of the PM867 controller has two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for connection to the Control Network, and two RJ45 serial ports (COM3, COM4). One of the serial ports (COM3) is an RS-232C port with modem control signals, whereas the other port (COM4) is isolated and used for the connection of a configuration tool. The controller supports CPU redundancy for higher availability (CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interfaces and S800 I/O).
The high integrity functionality is enabled by the addition of an SM812 module and the SIL-certified software. The AC 800M High-Integrity also offers IEC 61508 and TÜV-certified control environment for combining safety and business-critical process control in one controller unit without sacrificing the safety integrity.

What is I/O
I/O stands for Input and Output.
It can be divided into disk I/O model, network I/O model, memory mapped I/O, Direct I/O, database I/O, as long as the interactive system with input/output type can be considered as I/O system.
Remote I/O module
In industry, I/O refers to any device that transfers data to and from a computer, such as a PLC.
We refer to these I/O devices as I/O modules.
For example, field devices such as sensors and actuators are connected to the I/O module. Sensor signals for process variables (e.g. liquid flow) are converted by input I/O modules and stored in PLC memory. The actuator receives the operation signal from the output I/O module.
Expansion unit refers to an independent expansion product, generally connected to the PLC expansion port or expansion slot. Expansion module generally refers to the CPU for PLC to expand other functions, such as communication functions and so on with the module, the expansion unit is including input and output, expansion module only input or output, a need for separate power supply, one does not need separate power supply, the expansion unit is including input and output (built-in power, It can be divided into ac and dc input), and the expansion module can also be divided into input or output (the power supply is obtained from the basic power supply or expansion unit).
