The SST-PB3-SLC module runs with 750 milliamps current and 5 Volts DC. During installation, the power should be turned off to avoid electrical damage. If there is electrical noise in the installation area, an additional isolation transformer should be installed near the module. The internal communication activity of the module can be seen on the front panel through an LED. The COMM LED will turn green when there is no network present. For a network error, the LED will turn red. The SST-PB3-SLC module can be configured and programmed by using the configuration tool. The module comes with a watchdog timer feature which runs after the module has been reset or fully powered up. A default time of 1000 milliseconds is used for the watchdog timer period which verifies the communication with the SLC processor. The scanner will fault if it does not get an I/O update within this time frame.
