The Abaco Systems / VMIC VMIVME-3118 32-Channel 16-Bit A/D Converter Module is designed to support 64 channels of differential or single-ended wide range (±25 mV to ±10 V) analog inputs. The board supports the following operating modes: Autoscanning, Single Channel Random Polling, Timed Burst, Locally Triggered Burst, Remotely Triggered Burst, Gain Loading.
1,024 dual-port Data Registers provide storage for continuous scanning of all channels. The scanning modes are executed automatically at power up, system reset, or are entered under program control. The dual-port registers allow VMEbus access at any time to read the latest stored data.
Channel gain can be jumper selected as x1, x10, or x100, or can be software programmed individually for each channel. Scan rate is programmable up to 52 kCPS (thousand channels/sec).
The VMIVME-3118 employs an unbuffered 64-channel input multiplexer. Systems Integrators must consider source impedances and cable length when using this board unless the VMIVME-3413, VMIVME-3417A, VMIVME-3418 or other signal conditioning is used.
Compatibility: VMEbus specification compatible. Double height form factor. Input Connector Type: Dual 64-pin connectors – DIN 41612 I/O Organization: Eight input ports; eight bits wide. Addressable to any address within short supervisory and/or short nonprivileged I/O map. Control and Status Register (CSR) address is independently selectable.
Addressing Scheme: Eight ports individually addressable on 8-, 16-, or 32-bit boundaries. One CSR addressable on an 8-bit boundary. Thirteen jumpers provide unlimited short data I/O address map selection. Differential Signal Input Characteristics: Common-Mode Input
Voltage Range: -30 to +66V. Input sensitivity of ± 100mV over common-mode range of -7 to +12V. High input impedance (33kΩ ).
Single-Ended Signal Input Characteristics: High input impedance (33kΩ ). Threshold accuracy of 1 percent over entire 66V range (typical). Refer to Figure 3 for typical single-ended signal conditioning electronics.
Signal Conditioning Input Filter Terminator Option: The board may be ordered with an input signal filter circuit. For differential inputs, this circuit consists of a series resistor and capacitor connected across the signal input (see Figure 2). For single-ended inputs, this circuit provides an input debounce filter whose time constant is user selected (see the Ordering Options).
